The 7 Skills You Need to Become a Real-Life Jedi

by | Jun 18, 2020 | Just for Fun | 0 comments

Star Wars is undeniably one of the greatest Sci-Fi works the world has ever seen. Who could forget the lightsaber-wielding guardians protecting peace and justice across the universe?

The Jedi was a quintessential image of courage and heroism for so many kids growing up, myself included.

But what does it really mean to be a Jedi?

A Jedi is a master in their field that is deeply in-tune with the Force energy, or as Obi-Wan Kenobi called it “an energy field created by all living things” that “binds the galaxy together.”

In a real-world sense, a Jedi is someone who has mastered their mind and attracts endless abundance because they are aligned with the mystical nature of the universe.

And I believe that the equivalent to Jedi training today would be personal growth work to become a purposeful, intentional and optimal human being overall.

So to prepare for the rise of Human Being 2.0, I’ve listed seven areas you need to master so you can move through your personal growth journey powerfully and become a full-fledged Jedi.

1. Bending Reality

Believe it or not, this concept isn’t nearly as woo-woo as it may sound.

The term ‘Bending Reality’ is essentially a state of mind where you consciously shape the world around you instead of being at the mercy of external circumstances.

You see, we think our reality is based on the situations that exist outside of us, but it’s actually our inner world that shapes our outer world.

We see the world through our own filters and perspectives, so if we really want to change our circumstances then we need to look within first.

When you turn your attention inwards and constantly find ways to think, feel and communicate more consciously, then everything else falls into place.

In my own life, I intentionally seek out innovative ways to expand my mind and grow as a human being every single month.

It sounds like a lot, but it’s actually surprisingly easy to do. If you think about it, over the course of 30 days you can accomplish far more than you think.

You could attend a seminar, dive deep in a podcast series, or take a personal growth course that radically transforms how you see the world.

You can completely alter the way you approach the world, and that’s what bending reality is all about.

It’s a conscious choice to live your life with an internal focus and constantly seek out new ways to grow, learn and make the world a better place.

The more you practice shaping your reality, the right people, places and opportunities will gravitate towards you as a result.

2. Intuition

Tapping into intuition to envision another (soon-to-be) award-winning office space for Mindvalley

Whether you call it your gut instinct, inner voice, or even just a hunch, this superpower is something we’re all born with. And while we all know that it’s there, most of us haven’t been taught how to listen to it, and more importantly how to use it.

To put it simply, accessing your intuition means clearing away any confusion around what you’re told you should think or do, and instead listening to your inner voice.

Let’s say you’re offered a new job opportunity. It would look great on your resume and your friends and family are pushing you to take it…but something just doesn’t feel right.

So you launch into this internal war between what your intuition knows is right and what other people are trying to convince you is right. It can be very tempting to fall into this trap and push that little voice aside. But know if you do, you may end up leading a life where you feel uninspired and unfulfilled because you didn’t stay true to your real self and what you want in life.

Remember, we all have an intuitive sense guiding us through life and our greatest job is simply to listen to it.

Your intuition is an unlimited source of creativity, inspiration and wisdom that transcends time and space. When you learn to tap into this, you’ll find yourself in a constant state of ease and bliss.

3. Purposeful Living

Most of us can agree that there’s nothing more attractive than a passionate person pursuing their true purpose. Even though every single one of us has a unique path and reason for being on this planet, it’s up to us to discover what that purpose truly is. Through 20 years of personal growth research, I found that people are driven by two fundamental things:

1) The Need To Grow

As human beings, we are always searching to feel more, experience more, and become more. Our soul is boundless, and everything we experience is an opportunity for growth.

Every single challenge, problem, and dream you have is a chance to express and experience a greater and wiser version of yourself. The more you stretch beyond your capabilities, the closer you’ll get to becoming who you’re truly meant to be.

2) The Desire To Contribute

At a fundamental level, I believe the highest form of personal growth is to see life as an avenue to give back to others.

When you see beyond the concepts of “me” and “you” and realize that we are all the same, giving back becomes second nature. Living your life from a constant state of growth can make the world a better place. It will feel as though the universe has your back.

4. Unity Consciousness

There is one core principle that is the foundation of my greatest philosophy in life: We do not have a soul, but we ARE a soul. What we have is a body.

Ultimately we are all just one energy, one soul, one stream of consciousness, and any separation between us is merely an illusion.

At this level of unity consciousness, you realize that we are all simply one individual cell in an eight billion strong being. Embracing unity consciousness means we don’t simply align with our country, religion, or ethnicity first, but rather with humanity as a whole.

The moment you recognize there is no such thing as “the other” and separation doesn’t exist, all relationships become win-win.

Jealousy, struggle and fighting completely disappear because you know we’re not just on the same team, we’re the same being.

Even though we all have our own roles to play and purposes to fulfill, we are one. And it’s our responsibility to look out for each other.

5. Accessing the Altered States of Consciousness

The power of your mind is limitless, but not nearly enough of us use it to its fullest potential. When we tap into altered states of consciousness, we activate parts of the brain that we’ve never experienced before. The most powerful and safest way to do this is through meditation.

Meditation doesn’t mean sitting still and clearing your mind. Let’s be honest, who has time for that in a world of work, kids, and Stranger Things episodes you need to watch?

Meditation is simply a “transcendent practice” which is a method to take yourself out of the physical world and make you go within.

You can take my 6 Phase Meditation for example. Compassion, gratitude, forgiveness, intention, blessings, and creative visualization aren’t considered meditation in the traditional sense, but they are certainly transcendent practices.

The 6 Phase is much more than meditation because, rather than clearing your thoughts to escape the world, you fully engage your mind to solve problems and create a better one. I believe it’s more impactful to use meditation as a practice to gain introspection and insight to make a difference, rather than as a tool for self-reflection.

6. Magnifying Health, Vitality and Longevity

Thanks to rapid innovations in biotechnology, starting in 2030 you will be able to add one year to every year you live, according to Singularity University.

But living longer doesn’t mean we are getting any younger.  It all depends on how (or if) we take care of ourselves.

Depending on the state of your health, you could be climbing mountains and constantly learning new things at the age of 105, or you could live half of your life in a wheelchair.

While this isn’t 100 percent determined by self-care, you have far more control over how long and fully you live than you may think.

Right this very moment, there are visionaries in the tech industry designing and constructing breakthrough nanobots that will completely stop cells from breaking down with age.

Organizations like the SENS Foundation are setting out on radical missions to cure death. Yes, you heard that right. There may be a point in the future where people can live past 150.

You don’t have to live to 200 if you don’t want to, but with all of the stress and chaos in the world, staying in peak physical condition should be a top priority. It will help you to slow down the aging process, raise your energy, and increase your sense of clarity to make you an unstoppable force in this world for many years to come.

7. Stepping Beyond The Culturescape

Pushing beyond our existing culture scape at Mindvalley University 2019 in Pula, Croatia

So much of what we believe is true about the world and our place in it exists only within our minds.

Long before we could develop them on our own, the majority of our opinions and beliefs were implanted in us by our family, culture and the media without our knowledge or consent.

In other words, we’re living in what I call ‘The Culturescape’: a tangled web of beliefs and ideas that shape how we see the world, and at times may hold us back from becoming who we really are.

In a world that’s rapidly evolving, it’s more important than ever that we question the social norms around us and break out of this system.

The best advice I can give to transcend this system is just to stay open. Open your mind to new perspectives and realities. Continue to question and wonder about the world at all times.

Above all, continue to grow, or as my friend said, “Grow so fast that your friends who haven’t seen you in a month have to get to know you all over again.”

Personal growth should come before your relationships, your business, or even your family. When you’re deeply committed to your own evolution, you can better serve your loved ones, your mission, and every other facet of your life.

Every day when you look in the mirror, I urge you to ask yourself:

How am I going to grow today?
